Install in 5 steps

Web page with three underlined phone numbers. One number is highlighted in gold because the mouse is over it; a click calls that number through ClearVox Nexxt.
Phone numbers on a web page are clickable
  1. Unzip to a folder you will keep, for example Documents\ClearVox-click-to-call. Do not delete that folder later, because the browser reads the extension from it.
  2. Open the extensions page:
    Chrome
Type chrome://extensions in the address bar
    Edge
Type edge://extensions in the address bar
  3. Turn on Developer mode (switch top right in Chrome, bottom left in Edge).
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the folder from step 1 (the folder that contains manifest.json).
  5. Click the puzzle piece in the toolbar and pin the extension. Open it and enter the address of your ClearVox centre, the port and your API token (found in your ClearVox profile under "3rd party login"). You can paste a full URL; the address and port are filled in for you. The icon turns green when the connection works.
Extension settings with fields for the address of the centre, the port and the API token, and a status icon showing whether the connection works.

03 / Use

Use

Click an underlined phone number on a web page, or select a number, right-click and choose Call. In the popup you switch number detection on or off per website. On the Dialer tab you can type a number yourself on a phone-style keypad, see your status (available, busy, do not disturb) and listen to your voicemail. Under Recent you find the last numbers you called.

04 / Good to know

Good to know

  • Your API token stays on this device in your own browser; server address and settings can synchronise through your own browser account. The extension sends data only to your ClearVox centre. See the privacy statement.
  • Because the extension does not come from the official store, the browser sometimes shows a notice about developer-mode extensions. Dismiss it; the extension keeps working.
  • Updates are manual: download the new zip, unzip it over the old folder and click the refresh icon for the extension in chrome://extensions or edge://extensions.
  • On a managed work PC your administrator may block installation. Ask your IT department for help.

05 / Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a CTI or click-to-call extension for ClearVox?

CTI (computer telephony integration) connects your computer to your telephone system. With this extension you click a phone number in your browser and ClearVox Nexxt starts the call on your own phone or softphone.

The old ClearVox Nexxt click to call extension no longer works. What now?

The old extension is built on Manifest V2, which Chrome and Edge are switching off. This extension is a Manifest V3 version that does the same: you enter the address of your ClearVox centre, the port and your API token, and phone numbers become clickable again.

Does this work in Chrome and in Edge?

Yes. Both browsers use the same extension technology. The installation guide for both is on the download page.

What happens to my API token?

The token stays in your own browser's storage and goes only to the ClearVox server you configured. Page content is not collected. See the privacy statement.
